Very well done! Your speaking is extremely clear and not too fast. I hope you are aware that this is one of the only comprehensive southern dialect resources available for learning Vietnamese (online or otherwise). I, myself have actually been learning from a website that uses the northern dialect for their audio files even though I am trying to learn southern. Very frustrating!
You should try to advertise this more and maybe even think about making your own audio books (from what I understand there’s a possible niche)
Thank you very much for all the work you put into this. I shall be sure to put it to good use!

Just so you all know, I just finish porting QEVP to iPhone app and submitted it. Will let you know when it got approved. Please click here to learn more about this cool app.
Update, the QEVP iPhone app is now in App Store. It’s paid version for only $.99. I’m trying to recoup the money I spent on an iMac and the developer fee. Just enter “qevp” in the search box in iTunes or the iPhone’s App Store. Or if you are willing to give the app some rating, please email me at vietcali2000 at yahoo dot com and I send you free coupon code to redeem at the iTunes Store.
this is a great site!
I’m trying to brush up on my Vietnamese in preparation of visiting VN this year. Good to actually find phrases in Southern accent.
Tom,
I visited your site tomnguyenart.com and really admired your works. I also like to draw comic and caricature when I was younger but I guess I’m not dedicated enough. Congrat on your achievements. Keep up the good work and have a great trip to VN.
I know this is very late, but I revisited this page and just saw your comment. Thanks so much about my artwork, I really appreciated it. I wish you had continued to draw as well! Anyways, I postponed my trip to VN because my mom got injured, but we will be going later this summer.
Thanks again!
This is an excellent site, well done! I have been using it since arriving in Vietnam (3 weeks) and have learned more of the language from this than anything else. You speak clearly and the site is very easy to follow. I have just one small problem – because your site has taught me how to speak correctly, people think that I’m a fluent speaker and try to have proper conversations with me that I can’t follow! I have to explain that I really don’t know that much Vietnamese, I’ve just had an excellent teacher
Thank you so much, keep up the good work!
I haven’t heard any feed back from anyone on QEVP for a long time. I’m glad it’s still an useful tool. If you owned an Iphone or Ipad don’t forget to download the free QEVP app. I’m learning how to write Android app right now and will port the QEVP to Android. This will be my new challenge.
Thanks for the nice comment.
this is great – I’ve been a week looking for a user-friendly site and I stumbled on yours from a link at another site. When I travel to VN I will certainly pull the app down onto my i-phone (and would be happy to rate it if that helps). Your small fee is a bargain either way.
Can I make a suggestion? – that you emphasize that this site is based on southern pronunciation somewhere near the top of the page. many sites I looked at either had Hanoi or did not specify which tones were being used.
Thanks so much.
Hi!
I’m bilingual in English and Vietnamese and have a background in teaching English. I have been wanting to create audio files for Vietnamese students who really want to improve their English listening and speaking skills. I really want to create an iPhone app for this purpose, but unsure of where to start. I was wondering if you could guide me on how I can develop an app similar to yours. It is a very useful tool. Thank you!
P.S. I’m also located in Cali.
